Humility - Day 15

Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. PHILIPPIANS 2:3-4

In the Bible, humility is a quality of being courteously respectful of others. It is the opposite of aggressiveness, arrogance, boastfulness, and vanity. Rather than a “me first” mentality, humility allows us to prefer others above ourselves, and see the dignity and worth of all God’s people. For the church to truly reflect Christ to the world, humility is not merely an option, it is a vital part of the Christian walk.

Pray for Christians to be free from self-interest and self-promotion, and to love others as they love themselves. Pray for campus ministry leaders to treat each other with humility and respect, seeking to honor each other at all times. Pray for churches to recognize one another’s value, embracing each other as vital parts of the Body of Christ, and seeking to work together instead of being in competition.
